The CEC, which was established in 1975 helps support and empower victims of family violence as well as homeless, low-income and senior populations in Tarrant County. They provide this assistance through a variety of services including education, career planning, food and support, housing and counselling.
In 2019 alone, the CEC distributed 1,019,590 meals through its food pantry and provided temporary housing for more than 140 children.
“It was a really great opportunity with an amazing organization,” Sandlin’s marketing coordinator Alexa Crockett said. “They are definitely in need now more than ever for volunteers and it was rewarding to be able to give back to our community in such a concrete way.”
Crockett said each of their dozen staff members helped clean and disinfect the center as well as restock and make room for new shipments of supplies. Each one had their temperature taken at the door and was educated on proper safety precautions as well.
